Short biography:

Ittai Gavrieli earned his MSc and PhD in geochemistry from the Institute of Earth Sciences, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is with the Geological Survey of Israel since 1992 and was also an adjunct associate research scientist at Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory between 1999 and 2005. His studies focus mainly on the evolution of brines and on groundwater pollution. Since 1992 Ittai coordinates the Dead Sea studies in the Ministry of Infrastructure. Following the renewed talk of the "Peace Conduit" in the early 2000s he initiated and is engaged in formulating a model for the Dead Sea that would simulate the impacts of the project on the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of the Dead Sea.
