The International Conference on Halophilic Microorganisms – Halophiles 2019 will be held in Cluj-Napoca (Romania) during June 24-28, 2019. The aim of Halophiles 2019 meeting is to gather scientists around the world to share their enthusiasm and catalyze new lines of research in ecology, physiology, biodiversity, genetics, biochemistry, biophysics, biotechnology, and evolutionary biology of salt-loving organisms or ‘halophiles’.
ISSLR will sponsor the Halophiles 2019 symposium with two travel grants of US$ 500 each, for students or early career scientists up to the age of 35, who will present a talk or a poster at the meeting.
To apply for these grants, an application letter must be sent to the conference organizers (horiabanciu3@yahoo.com or halophiles2019@gmail.com) no later than 1st of April with the following information:
- Name, address, e-mail address
- A short curriculum vitae that must contain the date of birth, and list of publications if applicable
- The abstract of the planned presentation
- Any further information that may be relevant, such as the applicant’s financial situation
The applications will be evaluated by a panel that consists of members of the organizing committee of Halophiles 2019 and members of the board of directors of the ISSLR.
In addition, the ISSLR will sponsor two prizes of US$ 500 each, one for the best oral presentation and one for the best poster presented by a student or young career scientist. Those who will receive a travel grant will still be eligible for one of these prizes.
The winners of the ISSLR grants and prizes will become members of the ISSLR, and we hope that they will become active within the society in the future.
